![]() It is generally accepted that printers with expensive ink are designed to last and cheap because the company will get their money through ink sales, so a diy solution/mod is usually best. However, our chip resetter can reset this chip allowing you to see your cartridges' ink levels. Therefore, refilled cartridges will never show the correct ink level. Oh, and there are printers that have built in official tanks you can refill, though I have heard mixed things about them dying, so it is probably a planned obsolescence scenerio. Original Epson 7-PIN & 9-PIN cartridges have special IC chips inside them that indicate their ink levels. Buying a gallon of black ink in bulk is significantly cheaper than any ink delivery service subscription, or replacing toner in a laser printer. There are even such things as a CIS (continuous ink system) that has cartridges that have built in resetters that trick the printer to bypass the cartridge print limits, and also have tubes that connect to tanks on the outside of the printer. Many models have cartridge resetters, and it is possible to buy refillable cartridges, or even convert a cartridge to be refillable. ![]() Some printers can be hacked with custom firmware that lets them use cartridges without checking the 100 page print count on their chips. ![]() I was asking for solutions to my specific printer model.Īlso, on the topic of OTHER printer options, those are not the only 2 choices. None of what you suggested addresses my question.
